The purpose of a horn depends on its loudness, as well as its origins. Brass horns, as representatives of technological capabilities of humans, are ceremonially used by The United Church, while the status assigned to an animal horn is usually based on the threat presented by its original owner. When it comes to the more practical side of things, the quieter, easier to use horns are introduced during theatrical or musical performances, while the louder ones are blown to send a warning to a distant group.
The horn you possess doesn’t look too impressive and most likely didn’t belong to an actual dragon, but its terrifying sounds would worry even the largest of beasts, at least until they realize it’s not followed by shaking ground and breaking trees.
